National Acadian Day

Celebrate National Acadian Day at the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum with a day dedicated to honoring the history, culture, and traditions of Louisiana’s Acadian people. Enjoy live Cajun music, storytelling, poetry, genealogy resources, and a community French Table lunch as you celebrate the resilience and lasting legacy of Acadian heritage.

This event is open to the public and welcomes anyone interested in learning about and celebrating Acadian culture, history, language, music, and traditions.

What to Expect

Visitors can enjoy a variety of cultural activities throughout the day, including:

• A French Table community lunch from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• Poems, stories, and songs presented by Barry Ancelet from 11:00 AM – Noon
• Live Cajun music performed by the Cajun Music Preservation Society from Noon – 1:00 PM
• A genealogy station hosted by the Terrebonne Genealogical Society from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM for those interested in exploring their family history
