National Medal Celebration
Join the Terrebonne Parish Library System as it celebrates receiving the 2025 National Medal for Museum and Library Service—the nation’s highest honor for libraries. This free, community-wide celebration is a day of live entertainment, family-friendly activities, delicious food, and appreciation for the community that helped make this achievement possible.
Who Can Attend
This free event is open to the entire community. Families, children, teens, adults, and library supporters of all ages are invited to celebrate this historic milestone.
What to Expect
- Official National Medal presentation at 10:00 a.m.
- Live Cajun music by Roland Cheramie and Friends and the Cajun Bon Temps Band
- Performances by the Houma Terrebonne Stage Band featuring music from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s
- Native American drumming and dancing demonstrations
- Participate in a scavenger hunt and indoor geocache
- Play board games and help complete a community jigsaw puzzle
- Creative Lab demonstrations
- Explore library programs, services, and exhibits while celebrating this national achievement
