Louisiana Meets the Rockies
We are thrilled to be heading to Denver, Colorado to showcase one-of-a-kind flavors of Louisiana as the Bayou Meets the Rockies on Wednesday, November 13!
Chef David Sonnier of 531 Liberty Cafe is among 11 renowned Louisiana chefs heading to Denver, CO to showcase the state’s distinctive flavors at “Louisiana Meets the Rockies.” The culinary event, taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, is part of the Louisiana Culinary Trails tourism marketing campaign. The initiative is a collaborative effort by the Louisiana Travel Association, the Louisiana Office of Tourism, Explore Houma, and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board.
Louisiana Meets the Rockies is the first time Louisiana Culinary Trails is bringing this taste of Louisiana event west of the Mississippi. The epicurean experience of the Bayou State extends far beyond food and drink – it’s a vibrant driving force behind Louisiana’s events and cultural identity. Louisiana Culinary Trails and its premier lineup of top chefs are thrilled to inspire travel by giving Denverites a flavorful preview of the exceptional experiences waiting for them when they travel to the Pelican State.

About Chef David:
After a 12-year career as a chemical engineer, David Sonnier attended the John Folse Culinary Institute, igniting his culinary journey at Milano’s Restaurant in Houma. Upon completing his culinary training, he joined the opening team of John Besh’s Borgne Restaurant in New Orleans. Returning to Houma, David became the executive chef at Milano’s. In 2016, he purchased 531 Liberty Cafe, where he now serves as Chef and owner, bringing his unique culinary vision to life.
